Exam Safety Nets
Exam safety nets are available for specific Content Specialty Tests (CSTs), the School Building Leader Assessment, and the Educating All Students (EAS) test.
Content Specialty Tests (CSTs)
- Educational Technology Specialist CST. Individuals may take either the current Educational Technology Specialist CST (revised test) OR the Safety Net Educational Technology Specialist CST (predecessor test) until six months after the current Educational Technology Specialist CST (revised test) is redeveloped and operational.
School Building Leader Assessment
- Both the Revised (Sept. 2013) School Building Leader Assessment and the Revised (May 2019) School Building Leader Assessment are currently available. The Revised (Sept. 2013) School Building Leader Assessment will not be offered after August 31, 2025.
- Through August 31, 2025, individuals may take:
- Part One of either the Revised (Sept. 2013) School Building Leader Assessment or Revised (May 2019) School Building Leader Assessment, AND
- Part Two of either the Revised (Sept. 2013) School Building Leader Assessment or Revised (May 2019) School Building Leader Assessment.
- Part One and Part Two can be from different versions of the School Building Leader Assessment (i.e., Sept. 2013 or May 2019 versions). Additional information about the School Building Leader Assessment is available online.
Educating All Students (EAS) Test
- The passing score for the EAS test
is 520. The EAS test safety net is a passing score of 500. Candidates who earn a score between 500 and 519 will automatically receive the safety net and will see a passing score for the test in TEACH.
Applying for the Safety Net
Candidates can apply for the safety net after completing the above requirements by sending an email to examsafetynet@nysed.gov with their first and last name as is appears in their TEACH account, the last four digits of their social security number, the date of birth, and a request that the safety net be applied. The Office of Teaching Initiatives will then review the request.
