Expedited Service Request Procedure for All Schools that are a Component District of a BOCES with a Regional Certification Office (RCO)
A Superintendent may request their BOCES Regional Certification office to expedite a certificate application.
- The District must check TEACH to determine if there is an application on file and the fee is paid.
- The application should have a status in TEACH of “Ready for Review.” If the application is “Not Ready for Review” or “Review Complete Pending Information” you must submit transcripts* and/or other supporting documents along with the Expedited service request for Schools Served by a BOCES Regional Certification Office form (52 KB) to the BOCES RCO.
*Transcripts: Only official transcripts in a sealed college/university envelope that includes the applicant’s name, last 4 digits of their social security number and date of birth must be sent to the Office of Teaching Initiatives. If for any reason the college/university is unable to include this information on the transcript, the college/university may attach a cover letter in the sealed envelope. Transcripts submitted without the requested identifying information will not be reviewed. Electronic transcripts (even those sent by clearinghouses contracted by a college) will not be reviewed. The college registrar must send the official transcript to the BOCES in which the applicant selected during the application process or to the New York State Education Department, Office of Teaching Initiatives, 89 Washington Ave, Albany, NY 12234.
The Regional Certification office will determine if the case can be expedited based on the information in TEACH and/or information supplied by the District.
