Child Abuse Identification Workshop

All applicants for certification are required to complete two clock hours of coursework or training regarding the identification and reporting of suspected child abuse and maltreatment in accordance with Sections 3003(4) and 3004 of the Education Law. This training is available only from a provider approved by the New York State Education Department. A list of providers is available on the Child Abuse Identification and Reporting - Providers page maintained by the Office of Professions or by calling (518) 474-3544.  Contact the individual provider for workshop registration date and time.

Upon completion of the workshop, the provider will give you a Certification of Completion. This document should be attached to your application. (Photocopies are acceptable.)  In the case of persons completing State registered programs leading to certification, no Certification of Completion will be awarded because the training is a required component of the programs. No additional training is required.

Please note that some providers will be offering training that exceeds the two-hour minimum. Also, fees vary from provider to provider.
