Options for Review

and Approval of Programs in the Distance Education Format

Colleges and Universities located in or operating in New York State that offer degree or certificate programs through distance education must have those programs registered in the distance education format with the Office of College and University Evaluation (OCUE) of the State Education Department.  They can do this in one of two ways:

Individual Review

• Submit a proposal to add the distance education format to an individual program.

or

Institutional Capability Review

• If your institution has fully-developed distance education infrastructure, expertise, and support services, and at least one program ready to offer at a distance, consider the ICR approach.
