CLEP (College Level Examination Program) 

Beginning August 1st, 2023, we will no longer accept CLEP transcripts through the mail.
This change impacts mailed CLEP scores with a test date of 08/01/2023 or after.

CLEP scores should be submitted electronically. Keep the following in mind as you request your scores:

  • Use the DI code 7737 when requesting scores to be sent to NYSED from College Board. 
    • (Note: it will ask what “college” you want them sent to; New York State Department of Education is listed.)

CLEP scores by mail will only be accepted with test dates prior to August 1, 2023. Please follow these steps:

Step 1: Please mail an original, unopened CLEP transcript to:
          New York State Education Department
          Office of Teaching Initiatives
          89 Washington Ave, 5N EB
          Albany, NY 12234

Step 2: Please have a second original CLEP transcript mailed to you.

  • Take a picture of your driver's license or government-issued ID alongside of your CLEP transcript.
  • Email that picture to TranscriptsOTI@nysed.gov.

We will match the photo to the paper copy sent directly from College Board.
