Adjustment to the CTLE Requirement

If needed, educators may request an adjustment, in terms of clock hours and/or the time for completing CTLE, if they document good cause that prevented them from completing the CTLE requirement. Good causes include any of the following reasons: poor health certified by a health care provider, extended active duty in the Armed Forces, or other reason acceptable to the Department.

Educators would send an email to ctle@nysed.gov describing the good cause situation and requesting an adjustment in terms of clock hours and/or the time for completing CTLE. In instances of poor health, the Physician Verification Form must be completed by the educator and their treating physician.

Good cause adjustment requests would be considered no more than three months in advance of the registration period expiration date. If an adjustment is approved, they could complete the re-registration process by following the directions provided online.
