Subject: School Leadership certification examination schedule revised

At a recent meeting with the leadership and respective memberships of CADEA and MECEAP it was requested that SED consider modifying the examination schedule for the School Leadership Assessments (SLA,) particularly for the School Building Leadership (SBL) exam. Our examination contractor, the Evaluation Group of Pearson, Inc., has considered our request and we have agreed to an expanded administration schedule effective with the May 2010 testing window, as follows: 

The School Building Leader (SBL) window will run for 14* days and will include three Saturdays. The School District Leader (SDL) and School District Business Leader (SDBL) schedule will run for 10 days and will include two Saturdays. 

Below is a chart that summarizes how this scheduling change compares to the existing schedule for each administration window:

* The SBL administration windows for June 2010 and June 2011 will each total 13 days. 

Attached is the Revised Schedule for the remainder of the 2009-2010 program year (May 2010 and June/July 2010 examination windows).  It will also be published shortly on the Pearson Web site at www.nystce.nesinc.com. The examination schedule for the 2010-2011 program year is also contained in the attachment and will be published in the Registration Bulletin, which will be available on the Pearson Web site at the end of June 2010. 
Please encourage students to register for the appropriate examinations and ensure that your faculty and staff appropriately advise students that they must achieve satisfactory scores on these assessments before they will qualify for a certificate as a building-level or district-level school leader.
