ALERT: Touro College Transcripts (updated 01/03/2008)

The State Education Department (SED) and Touro College have developed a process whereby Touro can properly verify degrees and coursework for Touro student/graduates to SED for a specific credential as a New York State teacher or licensed professional. SED is expediting reviews of applications that were held up while the process was devised.

The Office of Teaching Initiatives requires all Touro transcripts to be sent directly from Touro to the New York State Education Department.

If you need to request a transcript from Touro for the purpose of having a Teaching Certificate application evaluated in the Office of Teaching Initiatives, please make your request to Touro and they will send the transcript directly to the Office of Teaching Initiatives. If the Office of Teaching Initiatives receives a Touro transcript directly from Touro, the transcript will be logged into your TEACH account and the review of your application will not be delayed due to any need to authenticate the transcript. If the Office of Teaching Initiatives receives a Touro transcript in any manner other than directly from Touro, the Office of Teaching Initiatives will not log your transcript into your TEACH account but must hold that transcript until it can be authenticated by Touro. This will delay the review of your certificate application until the authentication by Touro is completed.
