COVID-19 Update: Extension of Certain Certificates Expiring on August 31, 2020

May 4, 2020. The Initial certificate, Initial Reissuance, Conditional Initial certificate, Provisional certificate, and Provisional Renewal are valid for a limited period of time. These time-limited certificates have an expiration date of either August 31 or January 31, depending on the effective date of the certificate.

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, educators who hold an Initial certificate, Initial Reissuance, Provisional certificate, or Provisional Renewal with an expiration date of August 31, 2020 will have the expiration date extended to January 31, 2021 in order to provide them with the time needed to complete the requirements for the next level certificate.

In addition, educators who hold a Conditional Initial certificate with an expiration date of August 31, 2020 will have the expiration date extended to August 31, 2021 in order to provide them with the time needed to complete the edTPA requirement for the Initial certificate.

Initial certificates, Initial Reissuances, Conditional Initial certificates, Provisional certificates, and Provisional Renewals with an expiration date of August 31, 2020 have been automatically extended in the TEACH online system. Educators can view the new expiration date on their Initial certificate, Initial Reissuance, Conditional Initial certificate, Provisional certificate, or Provisional Renewal in their TEACH accounts.
