Using a Northeast Regional Credential
As of June 30, 2006, the Northeast Regional Credential is no longer available. Current credential holders may continue to use the credential for the remainder of its validity period. For more information, go to the Learning Innovations web site.
The Northeast Regional Credential (NRC), until June 30, was available, upon application, to anyone who held a first level certificate in a designated certificate
title in any of the seven Northeast certifying jurisdictions (CT, ME, MA,
NH, NY, RI, VT).
-
Issued pursuant to the Interstate Agreement on Qualification of Educational
Personnel, the NRC entitles a person to be employed in the credential title(s)
for a period not exceeding one year in the elementary and/or secondary schools
in Maine or two years in the schools of the following jurisdictions: District
of Columbia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island
and Vermont. Please note: There are no credentials issued for general science,
history, or administrators.)
-
The NRC is not renewable.
-
It is the NRC holder's responsibility to become aware of the requirements
for the first level certificate or license in the state in which he/she is employed under the NRC. These requirements must be satisfied in full by
the date the NRC expires if you intend to continue professional school
service in the state in which you are employed under the NRC. The NRC is
not valid for service in the issuing jurisdiction.
