certification > preparation pathways Using a National Board CertificateA teacher who holds a certificate from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) may obtain a New York State certificate in a comparable title, without meeting any additional education or testing requirements, through the National Board Pathway. Apply Online: Click on Apply by Mail: To apply for a New York State certificate you will need to submit the following: An Application for Certificate, completed in full, accompanied by the required fee. You should clearly indicate Reciprocity in item #11 of the application. (If you have already applied for certification, you may send a separate, written request with supporting documents not previously submitted, directly to the Office of Teaching Initiatives.); Original transcripts of all collegiate study attached to the application; A photocopy of your National Board Certificate; Fingerprints, for detailed information on fingerprinting, click on Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability (OSPRA). |
