edTPA Full Refund and Replacement Vouchers for Candidates Who Are Eligible for the edTPA Safety Net

The following information is for candidates who are eligible for the edTPA safety net, now plan to take the ATS-W in lieu of the edTPA, and either 1) are seeking a full refund of their edTPA registration, or 2) hold or have used an edTPA voucher.

Candidates From New York State Institutions Who Are Seeking a Full Refund of their edTPA Registration

Candidates who are eligible for the edTPA safety net and used a credit card to register for the edTPA, but have not yet submitted a portfolio for official scoring and now plan to take the ATS-W, can receive a full $300 refund by following the steps: 1) by completing the withdrawal instructions below by September 14, 2020 , and 2) if their edTPA Coordinator receives a list from Pearson with their name on it and confirms that they are eligible for the edTPA safety net by September 25, 2020.

  • To withdraw, candidates would log into their edTPA.com account, select “Current Registrations”, then select “Withdraw”, and follow the instructions provided.
  • Once registration is withdrawn, any portfolio files in the Pearson ePortfolio system would no longer be accessible. Candidates should save files prior to withdrawing their registration, if they want to retain a copy of their portfolio.
  • The standard $200 refund will be issued by Pearson within four weeks of withdrawal.
  • The additional $100 refund will be issued by Pearson within four to six weeks of their edTPA coordinator’s confirmation. Note: If the candidate who is eligible for the edTPA safety net does not withdraw by September 14, 2020, the candidate will not receive the additional $100.
  • If a candidate applied a voucher of any kind toward the registration fee, a cash refund will not be issued to the candidate, but may be replaced as outlined below.

Candidates From New York State Institutions Who Hold or Have Used edTPA Vouchers

Candidates who are eligible for the edTPA safety net, did not register for the edTPA, and received an edTPA voucher from their New York State institution, should contact their institution to find out if it either: 1) purchased the voucher, or 2) received the voucher from the New York State Education Department (NYSED). If their voucher originated from NYSED (i.e., the institution did not pay for the voucher), candidates can use the voucher for either the edTPA or the ATS-W. Please note that vouchers cannot be applied retroactively to existing registrations.

Candidates who are eligible for the edTPA safety net and used a voucher from their New York State institution to register for the edTPA, but have not yet submitted a portfolio for official scoring and now plan to take the ATS-W, must withdraw their edTPA registration by September 14, 2020 for the institution to receive a replacement voucher.
