Working
with its college and university partners throughout New York
State, the Office of Research and

comprehensive Higher Education Data System
that collects and distributes information on the quality and status of higher
education in New York State.
Through HEDS, ORIS helps assure the quality of higher education in New York State by providing information - for comparisons, analysis,
planning, evaluation, decision-making, and monitoring. The Office:

non-degree-granting proprietary schools, on major indicators of the quality of higher education
in New York State, including enrollment, degrees conferred, admissions,
finances, financial aid, student charges, graduation rates, and other performance
measures;
-
Produces annual performance reports
for vocational education programs and for non-degree proprietary
schools, as required by the federal Perkins Act and the State
Proprietary School Reform Act;
-
Develops performance indicators to
assess the health of New York State's postsecondary education
system;
-
Administers the Bundy program
of institutional aid;
-
Responds to ad hoc requests for
information on New York State higher education institutions from
many sources including the federal government, the state
legislature, the Board of Regents, the Governor's Office and the
