H. What are the NCLB's requirements
for teachers and paraprofessionals in charter schools and
nonpublic schools?
- CHARTER SCHOOLS. Until the U.S. Department
of Education issues final regulations and related guidance, SED
is advising charter schools receiving Title I funds to meet the
NCLB's requirements pertaining to teachers and
paraprofessionals.
- NONPUBLIC SCHOOLS. Teachers and
paraprofessionals working in nonpublic schools do not have to
meet the NCLB's requirements concerning their qualifications.
This is true even when nonpublic school students receive Title I
services on an equitable basis from the LEA or a neutral third
party provider by contract with the LEA.
