Certification Examination Guidance and Framework Documents

I write to inform you that new guidance and framework documents are now available for our certification examinations.

A frequently asked questions document has been posted on the Office of Higher Education’s website at ( http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/pdf/certexamfaq.pdf ), with responses to questions that have been submitted to our Certification Policy mailbox and at various events around New York State. The Department will continue to collect additional questions and provide responses in future updates of guidance. If you have a question concerning teacher certification or which tests to take to become certified, please send an email to TCERT@nysed.gov.

If you have a question concerning how the teacher certification tests are developed, please send an email to emscassessinfo@nysed.gov.

In addition, the frameworks, including test design and content, for the following New York State Teacher Certification Examinations (NYSTCEs): Agriculture, Business and Marketing, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Educational Technology Specialist, Family and Consumer Sciences, Gifted Education, and Technology Education are now available on the NYSTCE web site at http://www.nystce.nesinc.com/NY_annProgramUpdate.asp

The new and revised assessment frameworks on the NYSTCE web site are part of the Regents Reform Agenda to transform teaching and learning and school leadership in New York State.
