SUBJECT: Sub-Committee Meeting - Tuesday, October 3, 2000

Our Advisory Council Meeting on August 17, 2000 in Albany was extremely productive. The Council approved the work of the Benchmarking and Streamlining Sub-Committee and directed the committee to move forward with fulfilling its charge. The full minutes from the meeting will be available by next week.

The Council scheduled a follow-up sub-committee meeting for Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at the BPSS office at 116 West 32nd Street, 14th Floor, New York City. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. and should conclude by 12:30 p.m. The Advisory Council also appointed tentative Peer Group Secretaries to work with the sub-committee in establishing group measures. The appointments are as follows:

    1. Hospitality Management - Sheila Osterhout
    2. Appearance Enhancement - Vincent Ferrara
    3. Computer Technology - Anthony Stanziani
    4. ESL - vacant
    5. Business - Mike Hatten
    6. Technical Trades - Barbara Harrington
    7. Allied Health - Sylvester Lewis

The peer secretaries must attend the October 3, 2000 sub-committee meeting to receive further guidance and direction. Other issues to be covered at this upcoming meeting include:

    1. Organization of peer secretaries and cluster groups;
    2. New school licensing process and BPSS Policy Guidelines (PG);
    3. Follow-up discussion on streamlining of teacher licensing and curriculum evaluation from AC meeting; and
    4. Schedule for benchmarking and reporting.
