SUBJECT: Meeting of the Proprietary School Advisory Council – April 9, 2002

The next meeting of the New York State Proprietary School Advisory Council is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9, 2002. This session will be held at the BPSS NYC offices at 116 West 32nd Street, New York, New York. The meeting will be held in the 7th floor conference room and begin at 10:30 a.m.

One of the main agenda topics will be the Regulatory Reform Initiative. You can access the latest draft Part 126 Regulations which will be the basis for the Council’s discussions. This working draft is available electronically at www.highered.nysed.gov/bpss/draftregs.htm. Please note that this draft language is not necessarily supported by or the position of SED, but simply a basis for the Council’s ongoing discussions.

The Advisory Council will also be discussing its requirement under Section 5010(5) of the Education Law to issue a report to the Legislature, the Governor, and the Commissioner on: 1) the status of unlicensed proprietary schools in the State of New York; 2) the effectiveness of the change in the tuition reimbursement fund (TRF); and 3) recommendations for an extension of the changes or the consideration of different changes when the current amendments are repealed on December 1, 2003.
