Nationally Recognized Vendor Course/ Curriculum Application Procedures

(5/00)

The course/ curriculum application procedures for programs provided by Nationally Recognized Vendors (NRV’s) are streamlined since expert outside evaluation is not necessary. However, the following information must be submitted completely and correctly in order for the application to be processed.

Two (2) copies of each course/ curriculum application are required to be filed. All items must be completed, however, please note any special details listed below.

Items #1 through #3: Complete as with any course/ curriculum application.

Item # 4, Title: This title must be identical to that used by the NRV including any numbers associated with the title.

Item #5, Curriculum/ Course ID No.: Skip this item if the application is a new application. Otherwise list the ID number from the previous approval.

Item #6, Total Instruction Hours: This must be identical to that prescribed by the NRV. Where the NRV lists duration in terms of days of instruction, the school must convert this to hours on a consistent basis. Therefore, a school which has a 7 hour class day, must convert all 2 day courses to 14 hours, all 4 day courses to 28 hours, all 5 day courses to 35 hours, etc.

Item #7: Does not apply. No NRV’s offer nursing assistant programs at the current time.

Item #8: NRV: check the box, "yes," and indicate the name of the vendor and the specific web page where the Bureau can independently verify the content of the NRV course/ curriculum.

Item #9: Check box, "C," and attach a list of the entrance requirements for the course/ curriculum. These must be identical to those provided by the NRV.

Items #10 through #17: Complete in the same manner as a regular curriculum/ course application.

Items #18: Follow the NRV’s content outline and assign hours to each unit in accordance with the NRV guidelines.

Items #19 and #20: Complete in the same manner as regular curriculum/ course application. Since the NRV does not dictate this, in most cases, the application can be disapproved if the textbooks and/ or equipment is insufficient to support the course/ curriculum.

Items #21a and #21b: Attach the content outline and performance objectives provided by the NRV.
